The Body Combinations video discusses how the body has patterns present within its structure which, when followed specifically, allow the body to unlock itself naturally. When the body unlocks itself, patients respond quickly with lasting results.
The Our Feet video emphasizes the importance of proper foot mechanics in the absorption of force from the gait cycle (walking cycle). The rigid surfaces we now encounter are in sharp contrast to the rocks and dirt landscape we used to walk on. Repetitive heel strikes on flat hard surfaces cause trauma to our spine resulting in compression of spinal bones and discs. We can’t avoid concrete and asphalt, but we can restore normal function and shock absorption to our feet through the Gaitllink process.
The Front of Pelvis video discusses a joint located in the front of the pelvis which is called the pubic symphysis. The pubic symphysis provides forward and backward motion of the pelvic bones when we walk. Unfortunately, the pubic symphysis becomes “locked” in most of us causing stress to our lower back and hip joints. Dr. Swanson feels this may be the cause of hip degeneration leading to hip replacement surgery. Using the Gaitlink procedure, the motion of the pubic symphysis can be restored permanently.

The Hamstring / Groin injuries video provides insight as to how dysfunction of the pubic symphysis may cause injury to both the hamstring and groin muscles during sporting activities. The attachment of each muscle is next to the pubic symphysis on the pelvis. The other end of each muscle attaches to the leg. When the pubic symphysis becomes locked, the corresponding muscles no longer track with the moving leg, which makes the muscles more susceptible to injury. Dr. Swanson believes that restoring normal motion to the pubic symphysis through the Gaitlink process may decrease the occurrence of hamstring and groin injuries.

The Gaitlink Chiropractic method, available at Gaitlink in the Kingston Chiropractic Clinic in North Kitsap County, WA, can help you to restore athletic performance after many sports related injuries.

The application of the Gaitlink method is thought to increase athletic ability by restoring normal joint mechanics, muscle and nerve function.

Dr. Swanson believes common injuries which limit athletic performance, such as muscle strains of the groin and hamstring, as well as injuries to the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon are the result of associated joint dysfunction. When a joint loses function, its corresponding muscle attachment (i.e. groin or hamstring) becomes strained by the motion of surrounding joints.  Once optimal function is restored to the affected joint through the Gaitlink approach, muscle performance exceeds the physical demands required in competitive sports activities.

Dr. Swanson has extensive experience treating sports related injuries. He has used the Gaitlink protocol in the following sports programs:

  • National Basketball Association (NBA)
  • National Football League (NFL)
  • Collegiate Sports
  • United States Olympic Athletes
  • Australian Olympic Athletes
  • Local School Athletes
  • Local Recreational Athletes
